You certainly have a shot. 3.7 GPA (Michigan only looks at your unweighed GPA) and 1300 on your SAT is not bad at all. You are right where the bulk of Michigan appicants fall and you are an URM, which will help you. Apply before October and you have a good chance.

the 3.7 uw,is my core classes 10, 11, no plusses and minuses. I am going to try to have my application in by October. Thanks for your response!

I think you have a good chance of getting in. However it may be harder to get into U of M Engin w/ that GPA and SAT scores. Maybe consider taking the ACT or improving SAT. If you're aiming for LSA, I would still suggest a retake just to be safe.

I am not as strong in science and math as I am in english, and I know nothing about engineering, lol, so I plan on applying for LSA. Should I take the test again in October and apply after I get my scores back? Thanks for your help.

I got a 1310 my first time on the SAT's. I took it again(no studying however) and got a 1480. I dunno it just made me feel safer. If your GPA was a 3.8 I wouldn't worry, but with a 3.7 i'd consider retaking. After you retake in October, apply right away.

Take the ACT if you haven't already. Michigan prefers it anyway.

I would say you're in with or without taking ANY test again.

Kitcat, I'd be amazed if you don't get in. Apply now (or as soon as possible at least)!

Thanks cruella and a2a2! I plan on taking the ACT this October, i've been studying and i think i could get around a 28. Thanks for your help.

A 28 is worse than a 1300 so forget it and apply.
