Okay, just a kinda random question, but would it be tacky to wear your senior class sweatshirt in college? (I only ask cuz its really comfy and i hate to party with it, but dont wanna look stupid)

Nobody will care. At least I wouldn't. Practicality over fashion is my opinion (though I don't necessarily represent the majority...).

I heard that Stanford t-shirts are in fashion at Cal now. You should wear one on the first day.

Make sure to wear the proper Stanford colors too.

I'd rather walk in Stanford with a Berkeley shirt than walk in Berkeley with a Stanford shirt. I'd take curious looks over physical assaults any day!

Be sure to leave your Dodgers cap at home as wearing one on campus or in Berkeley is more dangerous than wearing Stanford clothing.

what bout padres? or east coast teams?

By Daonesteven (Daonesteven) on Thursday, August 19, 2004 - 12:24 am: Edit

what's so bad about dodgers...not that anybody would be wearing them anyways

in terms of senior class sweatshirt, HELL NO. wear whatever you want

By Avoidingwork (Avoidingwork) on Thursday, August 19, 2004 - 02:42 am: Edit

nothing is wrong with the dodgers...its just that the rivalry between so cal and no cal teams is strong. One time, a stranger in a Berkeley grocery store told me that my son was "wearing the wrong cap" when he was wearing a dodger cap.

anyways, you can wear whatever you feel like wearing. don't worry about looking stupid, worry more about acting stupid....

So there are Chargers, and Dodgers? Get it.. one of them charges and the other one dodges... Ha, hahahaa.. um.

I really wish the parents would just kindly stay in their own forum. As a student at Berkeley, can assure you that no student will really care what baseball cap you happen to be sporting on a given day. There are some Oakland As fans here :::shudder::: and some Giants fans...but I doubt they'd make any snooty comments at any wearing a Dodgers cap. The only time Cal students would get annoyed is if you wore a Stanford cap around campus...as for me, I really wouldn't care.

The nice thing about Berkeley (I guess some could take it as a negative) is that people in general do not care as much (key words = as much) about clothing/appearance. It's a lot more of a relaxed atmosphere when it comes to this kind of thing compared to many other colleges and you'll see people wear all sorts of things.

You'll even see an occasional Stanfurd shirt believe it or not -- which completely boggles my mind. He/she is either really naive or really bold for braving the streets of Berkeley with a scarlet letter "S" emblazoned on his/her chest. It doesn't matter if you're a grad student at Cal who did your undergrad at Stanfurd - you should never wear a Stanfurd shirt at Cal- this is a cardinal sin (no pun intended).

Anyway, going back to the original topic, as far as general apparel goes, you'll see a stark contrast if you step onto let's say, the UCLA campus (and maybe to some extent the Stanfurd campus, bleh).

Everyone wears Cal gear. However, you have a huge range of choices for what type of Cal gear you want to wear. You can choose the ever-popular hoodie, or the svelt new print tees, or even the fleece pull over. For those looking to break out of the tres-cas look, there are golf shirts -and- polo shirts! And, of course, since it would be a travesty to be caught not wearing your Cal geaar at all times, there are even Cal pajamas and Cal workout suits. Have a date? Expecting 'the best'? Don't be caught in a compromising position without your Cal logo underwear! Nothing kills a mood faster than finding a pair of tidy-whiteys or some grandma panties, completely devoid of that little symbol that drives our hearts to flitter-flutter. And, should a loved one pass on to the great Evans field in the sky, send them out in style - Cal style - with our very own Bears-emblazened pine coffin.

So welcome to Cal, young friends, wear what you like! You've got nothing but options!

Lots of my friends from high school go to Berkeley, so this college rivalry just seems stupid to me.
