630 verbal-17%
740 math- 29%
That's great news for me...(cries in corner).
That 1600, do they mean after you combine the highest or from one test? Pretty sure from former, just making sure.

I wonder when they do this statistic: Applicants Admitted by Class Rank. I was 5th when I applied, but third at the end of the year. Hmm...
and Yugekorb, don't worry about the statistics. They don't look good for anyone really.

I think probably after all the final transcripts were in Fallentear. I am just guessing though.
I figured class rank was a big factor in their decisions bc a student I know who did not get in was just out of the top 10% but was a national merit/full IB student/exceptional ECs.
I just think it is interesting that when you are sitting in your classes, look around and you can figure that most of the kids in your class finished 1,2 or 3. Though I am not sure why those percents don't total 100%. Can any of you smart kids figure out why?

The percentages quoted are the percentage of applicants with those scores that were admitted, NOT the percentage of admitted applicants that had those scores. Quite a different statistic, but that's how these are often quoted. Get it?

guys, please tell me something. is georgetonw a really good and prestigious university? is it really tough to get into? i find it very weird, that people here moan about their exceptional stats not being good enough and all, and how amazing people did not get it. really weird, according to you people its so prestigious and super cool, but only 5 people from my school applied to georgetown! i mean, i also applied to georgetown, just like that. prior to nov i had never even heard of it! seriously!! thats it. my high school is a school which is sending abt 20 students to ivies and many others to top LAC's. not many people have even heard of georgetown. i know that some1 posted something about georgetown's NAME some time back, do you people face the same problem? i have decent EC's, my SAT was ok, i have above avg grades, i was accepted and that too with a full tuition scholarship. so, whats the case? is georgetown like fully selective or do they favor internatinal students?

i hear they favor internationals because they love to keep up their diverse SFS student body.
But that's just what I hear.

Chicane, Georgetown is really selective, prestigious, and well known (and I'm not just saying that since I'm gonna go there, lol!). Where I am, people are very impressed to learn that you're going to G'town. Internationally, it's probably better known in some countries than in others. My friends in Spain, for instance, know about Georgetown, probably due in part to the fact that their crown prince graduated from there. So, don't worry; you'll find that G'town is prestigious when you get there. =)
Btw, did you ever visit Georgetown? I can't remember if you mentioned that before.

Chicane
that was the number that one of the parents posted that s(he) got out of the Blue and Gray newspaper. They just toured Georgetown last week and posted their thoughts on the campus. I posted back the stats that I got off the Georgetown website.

clipper:
thats not possible, coz the letters all accepted students got mentioned 15,000 applicants. anyways, when u calculate with your figures, 22% admission rate is wrong. with 14,837 and 3226 acceptees, it comees to 22%.
itziar,
yes I KNOW gtown is very prestigious, but i am saying is that not many people have really heard of it. anyways, thats not my problem, lol. anyway, who cares, i just wanted to ask whether gtown is really well known in the US. apparently it is! yayy!
btw, i was accepted to the college, not SFS.
itziar, whats ur AIM?
cheers and thank you!!

>>but i am saying is that not many people have really heard of it
Nationally Georgetown is very well known. I've never had to clarify what school I was talking about, where it's situated, or its reputation.

Fallentear04, are u on the facebook?
which hall were u assigned to?

lol Chicane, I think I kinda know how you feel. Some of my friends are going to start college in England this fall and they get annoyed when people in the U.S. haven't heard of their school, even if it's very well known in Britain. And I agree w/Fallentear; you can just say "I'm going to Georgetown" and the majority of ppl here will know what you mean.
Anyhow, I just put my sn in my profile. I'm actually not on AIM a whole lot, but when I am anyone here should definitely feel free to IM me and say hi. =)

most people I've told know about Georgetown. It usually creates some sort of awe-inspired response, lol. It is VERY well known in the US, especially b/c President Clinton went there and there are many alumni that well known. Also b/c it's in the capital, that definitely helps as well. Gtown is one of the 10 or 11 most selective universities in this country.

well, I just got REALLY annoyed at my high school. My sisters go there, so they got the info about when to buy supplies, etc. The letter always includes info about the recently graduating class. This is what the important part said:
"Last year we ended the school term on a very successful note. The Class of 2004 will be attending Howard University, Dartmouth University, Brown University, Cornell University, Cooper Union, St. John's University, and many more of the most prestigious universities in the country. ..."
SIGHH. Firstly, last time I checked, it was Dartmouth COLLEGE. Also, no one is going to Dartmouth, or applied. No one is going to Brown, and one girl was waitlisted, but she's not even going. The valedictorian got into Cornell, and I got guaranteed transfer, but we're not attending. No one applied to Cooper Union. St. John's and Howard, no offense to them, are NOT the most prestigious universities in the country. WHERE IS GEORGETOWN??? My friend is going to University of Pennsylvania-Wharton School, but it's not there. We have like 6-8 people are going to NYU, but it's not there. Sorry, but I just got really annoyed that our school wasn't recognized, or the other prestigious universities.
