Just curious: I know the school has a lot of Asians...would you say there is an overabundance of William Hung-type students (you know what i mean) or are there still a lot of beautiful and open women to date?? Do the trendy girls (in particular, the slender shoulder-length dark hair gorgeous koreans--if you're asian you know what i'm talking about) tend to drift toward interracial or is it impossible to really say? I'm just asking for my friend, who is a very attractive Asian guy who is scared of going to a school with a *cough* inadequate supply of the opposite sex. He visited UCSD last spring and was terrified.
Don't call me shallow k thanks.

I'm Asian, but I don't know what you mean by William Hung-type students. Do you mean foreign students?

Also, if your "friend" is so attractive, he should be able to woo anyone.

AND WHAT KIND OF DUMBASS IS WORRIED ABOUT A UNIVERSITY BECAUSE OF AN INADEQUATE SUPPLY OF THE OPPOSITE SEX? IT'S BERKELEY, NOT SOME UNI-SEX SCHOOL!

I think he means those engineering types with thick glasses.

Again, this is not my question--this is my friend's. If you know me from the other boards, you know I don't normally post about stuff like this. Geez..take a look at my list in my profile. I'm not applying to any UCs.

He just wanted some comments about the Asian dating scene. If you are a pending student I don't think you'd be in a good position to comment.

PS. Berkeley isn't a uni-sex school, but for instance, I'd take Yale and Columbia over Harvard anyday when it comes to girls. Wondering if UCB is as bad as UCSD. Just an honest question--no one is making any assumptions.

Apologies but I don't usually check up on people.
I just don't think your friend should be "scared" of an "inadequate supply of the opposite sex."
In my opinion numbers do not matter. I'm pretty sure your friend could go anywhere and be happy with the amount of attractive women.

"He visited UCSD last spring and was terrified."
Did he dismiss UCSD? Because it is a very good school.

Also, I do know for a fact that the Asian dating scene is very good. But I think your friend will be happy anywhere even UCSD.

I've heard bad things, but really you have to consider if you want to attend a university to see hot chicks or to get an education. Personally, I find the latter overwhelmingly more important, and if I'm going to be paying tens of thousands of dollars to go to a university I want to go to one that offers the best education.

If your friend cares that much, have him go to here: http://www.princetonreview.com/college/research/rankings/rankingCategory.asp?categoryID=4

Tell him to check the party school and quality of life rankings.

Two questions -- are korean girls more attractive than other asian girls, or something?

And two...oh, nm, forgot. :P

How can you guys are worried about girls in Berkeley when you have a pool of like 40,000 people? There will be more attractive girls than you can handle--simply because of the sheer size of the school. And if your friend is as attractive as you say, then he would have no problem getting into a loving relationship.

More to the point, before you worry about how attractive the girls are - make sure that *you* are attractive enough to attract them, in the first place. If all you can manage is to stare at them from across the seminar chamber, it doesn't really matter whether the girls are hot or not. Other threads have pointed out how unattractive the -guys- are, so maybe your lustful question is moot. =)

Your friend should forget college and hang out every night at a stripper bar.

Justice>>> Just out of curiosity, are you Korean?

By Eman333 (Eman333) on Monday, August 16, 2004 - 12:29 am: Edit

Cal has an extremely large amount of ugly girls and guys at its school. You want hot attractive students.... check out USC, USD, or San Diego State.

Justice>> how come you are not answering my question?

The only good looking guy I've heard of that attended Berkeley was the Naked Guy. He must have been so proud of his comparative looks that he couldn't keep his clothes on. Chicks are average from what I hear. Best to look outside the school for love.

It's not so much about the students being actually ugly, it's more akin to they don't care or don't have the money/time/resources to look beautiful all the time. I mean, I'm fairly decent looking on my own, but when I'm just bumming around to class, like everyone else -- I look like the average Joe. Besides, it's cold up here anyway. I don't have any real need for a six-pack. I'm not going to be walking around without a shirt or even a sweater for that matter from about mid-October to early April.
