I have a bit of a dilemma-
I live in Wisconsin and I can go to UW-Madison, a very nice school, for around 10 g's a year. However, I would really love to go to NU, but my dad almost passed out when he saw the 42,000+/year expenses during the info session. To be able to justify NU, I would have to get the price down to at least 25,000/year. My parents' yearly income is around $90,000, my sisters are both heading toward college soon, and my parents are in their mid 50's and have few earning years left. One problem is that my grandmother died this year and left us around 200,000 dollars. Will this count against me?
What is a realistic amount of aid I can expect from NU? Frank answers and/or advice will be greatly appreciated.

What is your EFC? Northwestern will probably make you pay $30,000.

Apply anyway. I was suprised at my fin aid. I wouldn't be going to NU without it.

Don't let the price tag scare you away; apply anyway if you want to go there. With gross income around $90,000, you have a good shot at getting some decent financial aid, however, the large inheritance WILL work against you, especially this year before either of your sisters are in college as well. My advice: apply and hope you get in and get financial aid (which you can always appeal if it isn't enough).
