for this school, in deciding for admission, i heard that they don't even look at your freshman grades. waaahhh!! my freshman grades are steller, then from sophmore on, it goes downhill. do they also ignore all the activities you've done as a freshman? what about senior grades? do they at least look at those?

At the info session we went to, they said they don't count freshman grades. They will look at your senior grades - but you really should apply early to Michigan, before those grades are available. At most schools, they make the decision without senior grades and just check them to be sure you're still on track.

Michigan will look at your EC from freshman year. Your grades do not count, although they will see them on the transcript. An upward trend is desirable. Your senior grades will also be looked at but won't be used for admission. Again slacking is frowned upon, so be careful.

What if you graduated from HS and are applying a freshman this fall? Would they consider my senior year grades then?

Do you mean if you took a year off? I suppose they would look at senior grades then. The only problem with taking a year off is they want to see how your spent that year. If all you did was work at Burger King they won't be too happy.

Yes, I think they would look at your senior grades in this case. And even if you worked at Burger King - I think you could justify that you spent the year earning money for college and reading great books.
