They'll probably be understanding, Chicane, since apparently there's no fast way to get that book in Pakistan. As for me, I still have to write that essay.... =(

I'm a student in Switzerland and I couldn't find the book, either! I'm sure they'd understand your situation. I'm going to get the book when I go to the States. If you go early, maybe you could get yours there, too. Or maybe you could order it online? In any case, maybe it would be a good idea to ask somone at Gtown about your situation?

How was the Quake discussion? Did it take all day? Was it interesting?

By Itziar (Itziar) on Saturday, September 11, 2004 - 05:10 pm: Edit

My discussion group was pretty sad--no one spoke. I felt very badly for the professor because he was trying his best but people were pretty inactive. However, my friends said that they were in some really interesting discussion groups, so I guess the experiences varied.

Also, I went to the first Murakami lecture, and I was on the second level and couldn't hear anything (especially since people behind me wouldn't stop talking). Not to come off as whiny, but if people didn't want to be there, they just shouldn't have come to begin with. Grr....

But Mr. Murakmi seemed very interesting. I just couldn't hear what he said. =(

My daughter's prof wrote this summer to introduce himself and told her to send her essay to him by late August. He also said that someone would win $100 for the best essay. Did you hear anything like that? She didn't know who won the money.
She said she didn't like the book and of course didn't enjoy listening to him talk. She didn't say anything about her discussion group though.

I agree with you, some people can be very rude. I noticed during the convocation that even though it was supposed to a solemn occasion that kids came in with their black robes tossed over their shoulders like it was a bother to carry it over their arms like the rest of the kids. Then I saw a bunch of kids with earplugs listening to music instead of the speakers. I could just imagine how embarrased their parents were and they probably acted like that during their high school graduation. I agree with you, if you don't want to be there then don't ruin it for the rest.

OMG Itziar me too! I was sitting with two kids from my floor and we were both struggling to listen. I think we were ready to commit mass homicide on everyone upstairs with us.

Clipper, my next door neighbor's paper was nominated for the 100$, but I don't know when he'll find out if he won yet.
