This question is mainly directed towards current students, is theft a problem in the dorms at Georgetown (at least from what you've seen/heard? I might be bringing a Powerbook laptop to school and I'm worried about it(or anything else) being stolen. Any precaution/advice I should take to prevent this from happening?

My husband bought a lock that my daughter used to lock down her laptop when she was at JSA summer program and it worked fine. She is planning on using it at GU. If you need more specific info I can ask her what kind it was. It looked like a tiny bike lock but I am not sure where on the computer she locked up.

I'm also bringing a Powerbook(yay Apple! lol), and I might buy a lock to tie it down on the desk. However, my parents think that buying a small trunk is a better idea, so that when I'm not in my room, I can just lock it in there.

also, on the Powerbook, there is a place to attach a lock(like the long ones you tie to something stable). It's the last space on the left side, next to all of the ports.

I'm also going to purchase a lock for my PowerBook. Actually, I'm paranoid about my stuff, so I'm probably going to have a million different locking devices in my room, lol.

You're fortunate.

there is theft although unlikely. Just be sure to lock your rooms and get a laptop lock for your laptop.
