Hi. I recently visited Washington University and I loved it. From all the stuff I have read and seen, it looks like a really good school. I am thinking about applying early decison to boost my chance of getting in, but I'm worried about some things.

Any advice from people who have been there, or know a lot about it would be great. I am wondering about how the social life/party scene is at the school. I got the impression that it isn't great because of the lack of sports and the hard academics. Also, if anyone is familiar with the Greek system there, I would like to know how that is.

So, basically is it a fun school and should I apply early decision?

it's a great social life. seriously, i was worried about that too... big time, but all the rumors about how wash u is a school of dorks is just stupid. they do work hard, but trust me.. they play hard too. there is even a screen name called wash u party that you can look at during the year and pick which parties to go to.. how cool is that! it makes party hopping very easy : ) seriously though, we have TONS of parties, and tons of fun, and it's a really good time.

lack of sports - i'll give you that. if you are the type of person who desperately wants to be at a school with a strong sports program, wash u is probably not the place for you. the entire school does not gather together to watch football games... i would try purdue or ohio state or some big ten school if that's your thing.

the greek system is good. i chose not to rush for a variety of personal reasons, but every single one of my friends is greek. it's kind of cool, because i can go to all of their functions and i never feel excluded at all. it's kind of like being a part of every single one : )

i think that whether you choose to go greek or not, you are still going to have an amazing social life if you put forth a little bit of effort. clearly, if you shut yourself up in your room playing xbox all day every day you aren't going to think wash u is the best... but as long as you get out there and make friends you will have a fabulous time. and it's not hard to make friends at all... everyone is SO nice and SO friendly.

by the way: if wash u is your number one i would recommend applying early. thats what i did and what almost everyone i know did. it is RIDICULOUSLY INSANE to get in regular decision. you will not get in unless you are just exorbitantly overqualified...

Thanks for your advice. It was very helpful. Although I would love big football games, I could live without them. I am just glad to hear that there is a pretty good party scene there. Any other opinions?
