I'm applying to Rice, and was wondering if I stand a chance. Thanks for any input!

Here are my stats (in brief), at any rate:

not sure about class rank
Have taken and will take this year the hardest classes my school offers...AP's =
AP American history, AP Brit lit, AP Latin (Vergil), AP French, AP Chem, AP Calculus.
Will take SAT 2's this year-french, physics, math IIC, and writing.
EC's include:

I'm not sure yet...maybe geology or some other natural science. I also like classics a lot, but that's not quite as useful :).

Rice does not require that you apply for a particular concentration but does ask that you indicate an area of interest, e.g., engineering, natural sciences, liberal arts. The preference that you express probably will not make a difference with the possible exception of engineering. (Rice engineers tend to have very high SAT 1 math scores--lots of 800s, in some years mostly 800's--and SAT 2 Math IIc and Physics scores) Fortunatly, Rice places no restrictions on the ability to change majors after you are admitted. Assuming that your SAT 2s are strong, you have an excellent chance if you express and interest in liberal arts. For the sciences, do well on Math 2c and physics and you should be fine.
