Hey,
Does anyone have information on York University in Canada. I know it is a great business school and law school, but I did not hear much about it other than that. How is the campus life.
Many Americans and teachers in my high school refer to it as the UCLA of the North. Does that mean that it is big campus, party school reputation and has alot of stuck up students?

Hello Bloor.
York is a great university! One thing very evident about the campus life is the students'- over 100 different cultures with a high percentage of international students who attend. York kids do party alot, but that is mostly the case with the rezzies or students who live in the near student ghetto. There is always something to do on campus and alot of campus pride for the college pubs and nightclub.
The campus is very large, but because of its location in Toronto, it feels very distinct from the city.....which is a good or bad thing? York's rep in Canada is known as 'New Money', with top class expensive buildings and alot of rich students who attend this university. Many people say York is too large and some people feel lost, especially during exam time. That is not the case especially for the prestigious Business, Engineering and Law faculties. However, a good chunk of students at York focus only on doing well academically and doing whatever it takes (whether it may be to be stingy on notes or back-stabbing a friend) to succeed. I am not sure about the whole UCLA comarison thing cause I am from Albany and know little on colleges on the West Coast.
