hi i am going to be a part of the class of 2008. it has been a struggle to even post up a message on a forum about smith b/c i have gotten no responses. i really dont want a shallow minded person.if it of any importance which i feel should be none i am african american and i know that smith's population is predominantly caucasian, so if that happens to be a barrier don't bother.

Antiqua, I haven't seen your posts in a Smith thread before. (I'm not a prospective student either, as you may gather.) Smith seems to be very aggressive about valuing diversity and after two campus visits, several local get togethers, etc., I haven't seen an ounce of racial friction yet. Sexual orientation, yes: the memorable quote I saw was something along the lines of "Being bi is hard...not straight enough for the straights, not gay enough for the gays."

The other things I've noted is that Smithies will argue about almost anything.

I'd ask my D to drop you an e-mail but she's out of town without Internet access for another 2-1/2 weeks.

I am a Smithie 08 also...are you doing preorientation? I think I am in Haven (69 extension)...where are you?
Antiqua,from all I know about the ladies at Smith and the class of 08 race is absolutely not an issue...don't give that a second thought
