Really good RECs
And most importantly, an excellent portfolio, praised at National Portfolio Day by colleges as well as professors at various other colleges. I think it's going to get a 5 on the AP Studio Art exam--and I'm going to school for Art, so this is a huge part of my application.
I just toured NYU and thought it looked great...though was unsure if the great art program I heard about was only referring to Tisch. I know I would have to apply to Steindhart School of Ed. if i wanted to major in Studio Art. What exactly is the art program there like? What about minors/double majors? Can I take classes at other school easily? And one last question, is living in NYC a worthy trade with a standard campus life? Thanks in advance.

I think you have an excellent chance! you certainly qualify academically.. I can see you do very well in latin also! I've taken 3 years of it so far myself and its by far my favorite subject =) as far as the art situation goes at NYU, Im not exactly sure of the art program at Tisch .. but I am farmiliar with Steinhardt Studio Art and the Gallatin School. At Gallatin, it is indivualized study and you major in 3 things including art, whereas in Steinhardt your major will purely be studio art =) good luck i think you have a great chance!

Tisch does not have an art program.

I know Tisch doesn't, I was asking if their "famous art program" was only referring to Tisch or if it also applied to Studio Art.
Thanks Iloveny13, how exactly does Gallatin work then? And do you know how strong Steindhardt's Studio program is?

It's probably a 'famous artS program', not 'art'. Tisch is one of the best drama schools in the country. I've never heard that NYU had one of the best studio art programs.

tagran86- my best suggestion would be to visit the wesbite www.nyu.edu/gallatin .. I've never actually heard anything about an art program at NYU besides Steinhardt's Studio Art and I'm sure you can read more about it online also!

Well, okay thanks, is there anyone out there who has been in the Studio Program or knows someone who has that might be able to give me some input?
