Hello,

I really would like to attend bowdoin next year, however, after recieving my report card in the mail, I saw that I have a 3.0 for the year (straight B's). I took some really hard courses combined and so my weighted gpa for the year will be a 4.0. The combined gpa for all years will be a 3.55 uw and a 4.26w.
For the record
I have a 1340 SAT
690 US History Sat II
650 Writing
and will probably retake all of them.
I am also an Asian female with loads of activites.

Am I still in the running, or should I just not even apply?

Definitely in the running. Bowdoin isn't obsessed with SATs... in fact, submitting SAT Is is actually optional for admission. So don't stress out over that. Good luck.

I have the same problem. Bowdoin isn't actually my top choice (Wesleyan is :D), but it's up there.

I'm taking the toughest courses in my school, but I'm something of a slacker in them, so I kinda get Bs in them... ALL of them... meh. I'm hoping they'll see past that, and look at my activities and personal accomplishments. Hoping, hoping, hoping ^_^

Cookie33- you got in with a 3.4? Really? Was there anything in particular that you think helped you get in? I'm facing the problem of not having a very solid GPA for the schools I'm interested in (3.5UW/3.65W), but I'm an excellent writer and have great ECs, recs, etc.

hate to say it, but i got in with a 3.6 and, from what i can tell, that's one of the lowest gpas that got in last year (class of 2007). of course, there were definitely *some* lower ones, but there's definitely no guarantees here. cookie, did you have something about your app that was exceptional?
