I have a Wesleyan interview scheduled in a few weeks. Does anyone have any on-campus interview experiences to share? What was it like? What questions did they ask? Thanks.

My interview was actually probably the funnest I ever had (and I went to a lot, we're talking about 12 interviews).
My interview was really warm and had a fantastic laid-back attitude. He even took me outside to show me some frisbee moves. I've met a lot of the admissions staff at Wes and from what I know, they're all really nice people. Most of the interviewers are former students so they really know exactly what the campus is like and usually give you a good idea of how well you will adapt to the campus.
They actually aren't there to judge you, per se, like a lot of other school interviewers are. They want to get to know you and see what you have to offer as a person, not as a statistic. Just go in with the attitude that they already like you and that you should be fine.

That makes the interview sound so welcoming... and so... utterly Wesleyan. ^_^
Thanks, Ziplocky!

I'm glad I could help.
Hope to see you both on campus next year!

does anyone know how much weight the interview has in terms of admission?

Probably more than most LACs but still not an immense amount. The whole thing probably goes under "Personality" and maybe "Dedication" - just come across as friendly and into Wes (not just "a liberal arts education"), and you'll strike out.

At the information session, the Wes admissions officer implied that it's more important for borderline cases, and also just to get a sense of who each student is, in addition to the essay, since the interviewer writes up a little report about the interviewee.

Admissions keeps stuff in a sort of "misc" file on people. The interview is pretty minor and if you don't do one you can still get in (I never had one). They do keep track of how much interest people show; for example, I'm a tour guide and I know that if people actually write a thank you note to admissions about the tour program (it's unusual, but some people do) they put it in your file. Stuff like that.
