Accepted JHU, UCLA, UCSD, Cal Poly SLO, USC.

Cal Poly SLO and USC are pretty much out of the running for me. UCSD is coming on strong.

I got deferred along with the rest of the kids at my school. I hear less than 20 percent were accepted ED, and even less if you were applying to Architecture, Engineering or Business.

I got in ED for economics. Economics is part of the business department and I thought it would be easier to get in that rather than business administration but I dunno, doesn't matter too much. Anyone else joining me there next fall? Any current students there have anything to say about the place?

How do we start a new post subject? Anyways... I applied to Cal Poly SLO RD, and received an E-mail from them saying I was "conditionally accepted." I applied as an electrical engineer.

Who else got in??

How does this compare to schools like NYU GSP, Northwestern, and Cornell? Or even UCLA? How impressive is it to go to cal poly verses these other schools...

I got in Computer Science. (BTW, djsam2004--my letter said I was "conditionally accepted" too. I think all the acceptence letters say this, so you can't slouch your senior year.)

I'm definately heading there next fall, got accepted as a Business Administration major. The only problem is, I want to change my major already to journalism, and it is pretty hard to do so at CPSU...when i applied i was split on journalism and business and let parental pressure sway me to business, but since then (like 5 months ago) I have become pretty dead-set on journalism...the stupid thing is, it would've been easier to get into the journalism major anyway. Oh well.

Zero, congrats on getting into to Cal Poly, it was very tough this year. You shouldn't assume that journalism would've been an "easier" way to get in, you might've not made it (some of those apps may have had more writing or HS newspaper experience or internships than you, etc.); that is one of the quirky things about getting in here, you just never know. As for changing majors, it is not as easy to do here as it is at other schools, but students here do it ALL the time, there are a few more hoops to jump through, but as long as your GPA stays up it should be no problem (it of course depends on the program you are trying to switch to)

i'm from Colorado and I'm pretty excited about starting all over...most of my friends are going to Colorado State or CU-Boulder, and they will all be staying in the same dorms and rooming with friends...I DON'T want to see the same people in college that I did in high school. Anyway, what dorms have you people applied for? I'm hoping for Sierra Madre. We shall see.

Hi Zero! That's cool that you're coming from Colorado for Cal. Poly. It seems like everyone I met at the Open House was from Northern Cali. I'm sure the weather will be a nice change for you. I think everyone kind of feels the same way about starting over...I know that there's only a handful of relationships I want to maintain in the next few years.

Yeah, so I applied for: #1 Yosemite Honors Dorm (assuming I get in, but I really don't want to anymore), #2 Trinity Hall (this is the Liberal Arts one, and it's awesome...if you switch to a journalism major that's the dorm you could be in...the best of the options given to me...in my opinion), and #3 Yosemite (non-honors). I really want Trinity. The brick halls seem a lot nicer than the Freshmen ones, and they have air conditioning and a daily maid service.

Have you visited the school, or just seen pictures?

I visited the school at the end of my Junior year...i liked the campus and thought the town was nice enough, and if i ever need to get a little rowdier i can always had to Santa Barbara. I am really looking forward to wiping the slate clean, I have a good friend that is going to Cal Poly with me, but other than that I don't plan on keeping in touch with any of my friends. Oddly enough, my main concern at this point with Cal Poly is how good the music scene is in San Luis Obispo...

Hi i was wondering if i get into cal poly as a civil engineering major...can i get into the business dorms if i apply early or do i have to stay in the engineering dorms? I heard that there is a pretty low scene at the engineering dorms so i was wondering what dorms have the best party scene? Also i was wondering if there is any advantage to staying at the dorms with only people in your major?
