Hi. I'd like to find out about the different personalities of the freshman dorms as well as which are the nicest, worst, etc. Also where do people hang out? In the student center? Is there a place for coffee? Thanks.

There are stereotypes about the dorms (I guess you can afford to do that when you only have 5 freshman dorms), but it's kind of silly because every hall is different every year. Basically, it goes like this:
Westco - Hippies
Clark - Party Animals
Butterfields - Loners
Foss - Jocks
Church - Too small/too new to have a stereotype
Westco and Clark might be able to claim these reputations legitimately, since Westco is "self-governed" and "artsy" attracts people who are into that, and Clark has air conditioning and free cable so all people who need creature comforts tend to gravitate towards it. The Butts and Foss Hill are both so huge that every sort of person ends up there. Also, Clark and Westco aren't really like that, it still varies from year to year.
In nice weather a lot of people like to congregate on the slope of Foss Hill overlooking college row. Late at night, people will also be found hanging around whatever facility is doing late night dining. Last semester is was Summerfields (attached to Butt C), which is nice because it has kind of a cafe sort of feel with the new decor they put in (and yes, they do have coffee). The campus center (which is being superseded by the university center in 2 or 3 years) also has some lounges and general student spaces. Oh, people tend to congregate on the steps of the library in nice weather too.
