I am pretty certain that next year I will be applying early to the Gallatin School at NYU. I was just wondering how competitive the program is to get into. It seems that there is always a toss up whether or not it is one of the easier schools to get into, or getting increasingly harder and difficult to get into?! I know it is one of the smaller schools within NYU and some have never heard of it, so basically my question is how competitive is Gallatin in terms or acceptances/rejections these days? Thankss :)

The Gallatin school is one of the smaller schools at NYU and has definitely gotten increasingly harder and difficult to get into and now has a stronger student body than ever before. I have been at NYU since 1998 and have been amazed about how competitive Gallatin has become.

That is not to say that you shouldn't apply to Gallatin. All Gallatin students receive a B.A. in individualized study with a concentration in a given field. The people who are referred to Gallatin have a number of diverse interests.

I wouldn't apply to Gallatin because you may think it's easier to get into. If you want to major in psychology for instance, you wouldn't be able to do that in Gallatin and should instead apply to the College of Arts and Sciences. People are commonly referred to Gallatin when they make initial contact with the office of admissions.
