Hi guys!
I need your help here. Hope you can be of some assistance.
I am Puerto Rican student, soon to start my second year at the University of Puerto Rico, as a Psychology major (by far the toughest major along with Biology). By the way, I'm not one of the many Puerto Ricans that have lived all of their lives in the US- I have always lived in Puerto Rico (never left). So, I dont have the constant english experience when it comes to standarized testing, etc.
My College Cumulative GPA is 3.80 A+, with a 4.0 Major GPA. (courses relating to my major)
Have completed 35+ credits
3.0 High School GPA (OUCH!) at the best high school in Puerto Rico.
I was a bad student in HS, a real "rebel". But I recognized I was in the wrong track and have done a complete 180- and now was invited to join the University Honor Program.
1300 SAT I (660V, 640M) UP from 1030 SAT
800 Spanish SAT II

-Student mentor/tutor. (Lot of Community and Volunteer Service)
-Have worked in Law Firms
-Have started up business of computer repair services
-Winner of many writing awards, and have been recognized for social contributions in Puerto Rico.
-Awarded Jesuit Compromise Award from University
-Political Activist (Participating in campaigns, and platform reviewing)
-Have designed courses, and evaluation methods with faculty members.
-Lead Counsel and Attorney in Mock Trials(undefeated)
-Secretary-General elect for Drama Club.
-Completed several psychological studies regarding public knowledge on abortion, depression, and crime.
-Fluent in Spanish, English. Learning French. (bilingual and a half)
-One of the highest scorers in Puerto Rico's College Board Examination
Recommendations will be -without a doubt- stellar. Essays must be very good, writing is one of my passions.
I have explanations for doing not doing great work in HS. Personal reasons.
What do you guys think? Please give me your thoughts, opinions, and also suggestions on what I could do in these few months to improve my chances.
Btw, my brother and cousin went to Cornell; my sister and another cousin to Harvard; my other brother to Georgetown. (I don't know, i hope that helps a little)
Thanks to all!!
