YEP! Thats right! There is now another Rice astronaut which brings the total up to three that I know of.
Shannon Walker got a BS in Physics and MS and PhD all at Rice!
And shes from Houston, and already works at JSC! I'll bet she was even a JSC co-op!
(This is a lot like me. Except I'm not a woman. And I don't live in Texas right now. But I will this fall.)

(and I am not yet a JSC co-op, JSC employee, or astronaut)

one last post for me:
http://www.nasa.gov/vision/space/preparingtravel/ascan_bio_met_lind.html
Of the 10 astronauts, there are 2 pilots and 8 mission specialists, 3 of which are educator-astronauts. 20% pilots is too low of a ratio for space shuttles, which are 2/7 pilots, or 29%. This is an indication to me that the CEV is going to be a 1 pilot ship.

oops sorry, thats 11 astronauts, making that 2/11 pilots. thats 18% compared to 28% for shuttles.
Just thought you should know.
