Hey, I'm trying to convince my parents not do disown me if I choose to go to Rice--yes I know the deadline is tomorrow, but I'm still undecided between Rice and U of Chicago (the school both my parents went to for college). Why did you guys/girls pick Rice over all 'dem other schools?

Myself, I'm leaning towards Rice b/c it's more laid-back than Chicago and b/c it's in the south--warmer weather (i'm from illinois...brrr). Generally, Rice isn't considered at academically prestigious as Chicago, but they seem to be in the same league where I don't think it's going to make a difference in my grad school admissions (I wanna do phd, probably in chem, engr, or compsci).

So yea, I don't know if anyone still posts on these boards now that it's almost May, but if there's anyone out there who wants to tell me why they picked Rice I would LOOOOVEEEE to hear it.

Hey, if you're thinking about engineering and chemistry, then Rice is the only one of the two with engineering and has the discoverers of buckminsterfullerene.

I like Houston.

I like the residential colleges.

I like Rice's traditions

I like Rice's campus

I like other stuff too, but I forgot what they are.

tell your parents its you're college decision and they shouldn't decide for you
