I've often wondered what sorts of essays people write for their colleges, especially when they have the same prompts as I do... What did you cover in your NU essays/short statements? If you are willing, please share them!

ex.
My important foreign phrase: “Where is the restroom?” - Maybe it was a bit cliche but I truly feel that it is the MOST important phrase to know!

I was/am reluctant to admit I like this one cartoon for kids from Japan.

let's all share our important phrases:

Me, I opted to not choose the realistically most important phrase like "thank you" or "where is the restroom".

I came up with "You have some talent, I must say!"

i said "como se dice... or how do you say..." in whatever language. I tied it into freshman spanish and how that got me through the year. i figured if you can say "how do you say" then you can learn everything!!:-).

for the reluctant i said american pie 2.

for the my phrase one or whatever "i shake my fist at you" and tied in a story of me saying that (i say it ALL THE TIME).

so yep for most of them i did it as a narative (as i did on my essay, because i didnt see that it said ANALYTICAL, well it was kind of but definately told a story....also went over the word count!!! i dont know HOW i got in with that i freaked out after figuring out how bad i screwed up.) and so yep those are my answers.

oh in my essay i talked about giving up my blanket and how that was hard for me. ie giving up my childhood fears ect.
