Sorry to tell you this, but a lot of people get invited to that leadership conference in Washington D.C. While it's awesome you should only put it on an application if you actually decide to do it.

Yeah I know a lot of people get invited, but why not put it, because not everybody who is applying there got invited, or at least that is what i think.

apply ED

By Bullitt245 (Bullitt245) on Thursday, April 29, 2004 - 09:14 pm: Edit

what is the benefit of applying ED?

By Shinystar (Shinystar) on Friday, April 30, 2004 - 08:54 pm: Edit

Basically this is the benefit:

When you apply regular decision, you are applying amongst an applicant pool, many of whom may have higher credentials than those requested of the school. These are the people who use the particular school as a safety, not truly intending on going there. A college only has a certain number of acceptances they can grant for any given freshmen class, thus these aforementioned kids will get the acceptance letters over others.

When you apply early decision, you don't have to worry about applying against those who are using the school as a safety. Granted, there will be people who truly want to go to the school, who may have better credentials than you do. Schools fill a certain number of spots early decision though, and you would have a better chance of getting accepted ED than regular.

the problem with applying ED at NYU is that they don't defer as often as other schools. i remember reading something that said they would rather give an actual decision then defer. if you're very uncertain, it might be better to work on your scores the first few months of the year and then apply RD.
