What kind of financial aid did you all get? Was it mostly loans, or was it grants? What sort of work-study did you get?
I am a bit concerned about how Stanford seems to mostly give loans. In 2 years, my younger sibling will be going to college, so my EFC should be close to half of what it is now. However, if all that aid is in loans, that won't do me a lot of good.

44? amazing. the budget is 42,760 so what is the extra 1240 for?
| By Deferreddude (Deferreddude) on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 - 03:04 pm: Edit |
Probably transportation since he is international. Stanford pays for 2 trips home per year.
My aid package was not what I was hoping. $12,000 in Stanford Scholarships and 4,000 in Federal Perkins Loan. They also made some kind of academic expectation earnings calculation in the amount of 2000. Basically, that means I'm supposed to come up with 2000 dollars myself. My parents have to pay 20,000 a year for Stanford, which comes down to 80,000 for 4 years!!!! YIKES!

yeah deferreddude is probably right. mine came out similar to kyan's. i'm a us citizen but i live abroad and so transport plays a role in the amount given as well. although i believe stanford only provides for one trip home per year for internationals (and i fall in that category as well).

I realize this is an old post, but I was wondering what kind of income everyone had. My parents combined income last year was $79k. What kind of aid should I expect if by some miracle I got in? (Also note that we own most of our home - about $200k and have about $25k in stocks).
