Why isn't the California Institute of Technology known as "CIT"?
I find it hard to believe that people would confuse the school with a counselor in training...but I guess you never know...
Better yet, why isn't the Massachusetts Institute of Technology known as "Masstech"? It would fit in well with "Caltech," "Georgia Tech," and "Virginia Tech"...although I still say it would be cooler to have them known as "MIT," "CIT," "GIT," and "VIT."
...and what about the Zimbabwe Institute of Technology? "ZIT"! It could win a prize for the largest zit in the world!
I feel like I'm going off on a tangent...

Try searching for "the answer to life the universe and everything"...
Google is indeed fun.

It is at times referred to as CIT. For example, our student government is ASCIT (Associated Students of the California Institute of Technology). Saint Luke's Hostpial, a property we recently acquired, will be known as CIT^2, etc. Caltech just sounds cooler. And it lets us easily get confused with Calpoly (grumble).

I hate it so much when people do that (confuse Caltech with Calpoly)...
It's just so damn stupid...
It's like confusing MIT with an oven mitt...

MIT over an oven mitt? Are you implying something about Caltech's status over Calpoly?
| By Tavilach (Tavilach) on Friday, April 16, 2004 - 01:26 am: Edit |
I am, although it was a real exaggeration.
Calpoly is a good school, but it's academics don't even compare to Caltech's.

i own two oven mittens myself, i view them to be quite useful, not as much as a degree from caltech or MIT, but definately more than one from calpoly. one mitten has a tucan on it. i dont think the calpoly certificate comes with a bright orange tucan, not sure. if anyone still hasnt burned theirs, i would be greatful if they could tell me. thank you.

Come on, be nice. Don't bash the inferior race...
(I'm just kidding. Calpoly is a good school...I know a very smart kid who goes there and loves it)
