I'd like to triple this question...anyone out there with experience with Ursinus?

I hear they give laptops to all new students.

Anything else?

Anyone?

Ursinus is a great little school. Yes, they do give laptops to all students. Actually, they don't give them to the students, the cost is included in the tuition. Entering freshman get new laptops which are upgraded junior year. It's a friendly campus with pleasant, hard working students and administration. Everyone I've spoken to has been pleased with the school both academically and administratively.

Yes, it is one of the better small colleges. I recommend a visit, though. My daughter was there over Spring Break this year. She spoke with some of the faculty, and said that they were enthusiastic about working with the students. The faculty, as well as the administrators, were friendly and personable.

Ursinus offered her a generous scholarship, so I think they're pretty good with financial aid. Yes, freshmen do get new laptops! That's a nice perk.

My daughter eventually decided that she wanted to stay in California, so Ursinus was taken off the table. But, she liked it well enough to go visit as late as April of her senior year before making up her mind not to attend.

On the down side, she observed students in cliques, which reminded her of an aspect of high school she wanted to leave behind. A few students seemed to be focused on college as an extension of high school. For the most part, however, Ursinus had a lot to offer in terms of student opportunities, internships, and mentoring, especially in the areas of biology and health services. They also provided good support for students planning on grad schools or professional schools.

Nice school in Collegeville, PA. I live about half an hour away in Ambler and I have my league championships there for cross country. It is a very nice school if you are looking for a small college.

He only studied a year. On the tour, they show you his dorm. It's neat... I met the guy who lived in it.

Yes, I think Ursinus sent out letters recently -- at least my son got a letter today (he won't be home for hours, so I must admit I've been holding it up to the light to see the good news!).

By Edge (Edge) on Wednesday, June 23, 2004 - 01:00 pm: Edit

na trust me, its not impressive at all. if u want bio and want to be in the PA/philly area try lehigh or haverford. other great schools are Penn ( of course) and villanova. maybe even Laf.
