Yeah, I just replied to the same post in another forum. If you've received an invitation to the welcoming events, you're in. If you haven't, it's not a good sign.

Hey, I'm in your same boat (deferred and rejected WUSTL). So if you get rejected from NYU too, I'll be there for you! You'd think that with the better GPA senior semester, they'd accept you.

But, your SAT scores in general are pretty low. 1330 strikes me as a bit below average for CAS. I don't think your chances are good for CAS, but who knows, they might think yor essay is great. Check out studentsreview.com. They emphasize SAT scores and the essay.

Duplicated post in case they delete your other chances thread in admissions...

Also, NYU may have sent these letters to maybe 90% of the class they're admitting for 75%...It may be wishful thinking, but maybe more people would've come out to say they've received the letter if they did. However, NYU is a very selective school. They're rejected NUMEROUS people at my schools with VERY HIGH stats. They could be being random by selecting some people with high stats, above average, average, and below average already, or they might be basing it all in a combo of essay, recs, and stats (the lesser emphasis being this). It's totally feasible that NYU will reject those people you believe will 100% get in.
