Hey everyone. I'm a Junior and I took the SATs in January and got 1160 (580m, 580v) I really want to go to NYU and I know those scores are very low for NYU standards. However, I'm taking them again in May and I have already gotten my score up about 120 points. I'm hoping to reach 1320 the next time I take them. Here are my other stats.
GPA 95.03 (AP are weighted, honors are not, I've taken honors math, history, english, and spanish)
Ranked 45/446
AP History (11th)
AP Psychology (12th)
AP English (12th)
AP Calculus AB (12th)
Cheerleading(Varsity 11 & 12) All-American (11th)
150+ Community Service Hours
I've been a competitiive baton twirler since I was 7. Placed in the top 5 in Regional & State Competitions. I compete individually and on a team that has won regional championships.
National Honor Society
Spanish Club (9,10,11)
Anchor Club (11) Community Service Stuff
My teachers all like me, (I'm pretty sure anyway) and they all see me as a diligent student and hard worker so I should get some good recommendations.
Oh yeah, and I'm also taking SAT II Writing and U.S. History. I should get at least 650?
Let me know if you think I have a chance. Thanks so much!

hey i made a 1090 on my SAT, and i am a senior who got into GSP. I only took that SAT once. Now of course my ACt was a 26 equivalent to a 1190 SAT.
In my honest opinion, i think nyu let me into gsp because they liked me.

NO! Don't even try! You have absolutely no chance of getting in whatsoever! Is that what you wanted to hear?

Sorry, I was in a really bad mood when I wrote that
Everything looks great except for the SAT scores. I got an 1190 in November of my Junior year and retook it and got a 1390 in June of the same school year with no prep so if you can manage to break the 1300's (which should be no sweat with some prep) then you will have an excellent shot.
Also, if you can improve your class rank a little that would be helpful too (I can't believe that a 95 average doesn't even get you in the top 10%- must be a competetive school or some major grade inflation)
Other than that, your ECs and courseload look good...make sure you write a good essay, and applying ED definitely helps as well.
Sorry about my last post- like I said it was a really bad day

It's ok. Thanks for your opinions. Yeah, well my ranking is pretty messed up. Honors classes aren't weighted so there are a lot of people who take regular classes and get really good grades. That's changing next year, which is just great since it'll be my senior year. But I think colleges will know that honors weren't weighted until my senior year. Am I right about this?
I go to a public school that is competitive among that top 150 kids or so.
Anyway.. I'm taking SATs again in May. I'm aiming for 1320 and I'm at about 1280 right now. I hope to get there, and I hope if I do, 1320 will be enough...
Thanks again.. and sorry about your bad day

I got in with a 1230. I took it 3 times.. (1060, 1220,1230). SAT's are just a part of what the adcoms look at so apply and the worse thing that could happen is regreting that you didnt give it a try!
