Well yesterday, SJU of Philadelphia, PA, sent me a letter notifying me that I am eligible for a transfer scholarship if I apply due to my academic record at my community college. Although, the offer seems nice, I'm not sure whether I should apply to the school or not. I heard that is has a great reputation, but does anybody know about the school overall? And if I'm not mistaken, my major (journalism) is only offered as a general studies major...

Is SJU really crap? I wanna know cuz my counselor said it could be a safety possibility along with BU. Anyone know if SJU has anything good or worthy about it that would make it a better choice than BU? Thanks.

Saint Joseph's is not crap. You should check it out in person or through the web. It's a Jesuit school, and as such it will have a demanding liberal arts core along with whatever major you want to study. The core would include courses like foreign language, math, science, social science, philosophy, etc.
If it's a possible safety for you, please plan a visit. If you have learned anything from reading these boards, it is to have a safety that you LIKE and can see yourself attending!

My D will be attending SJU in the fall. We have had a very positive experience with the school so far. Everyone there has been terrific to deal with. We know a number of graduates who felt that the school really prepared them for their future careers. It appears to be a friendly, close-knit campus. The school newspaper comes out weekly (which is not the case at many of the schools we visited) and from reading it, my impression is that the school is a vibrant place to be.

SJU is a very good school. It is a private jesuit school. I heard that academically it is very challenging. Its better than Villanova. Its
a good undergrad expreience and gives good fin aid. Anyone thinking about it should definitely go. Many of its graduates go to some prestigious grad school (law med business)
