By Brandywine (Brandywine) on Saturday, March 06, 2004 - 03:25 pm: Edit

By Canadian_Idol (Canadian_Idol) on Saturday, March 06, 2004 - 04:03 pm: Edit

did they use a courier service?

..and are we talking likely letters or actual acceptances?

By Sparklinjewel (Sparklinjewel) on Saturday, March 06, 2004 - 04:52 pm: Edit

me too:) any idea when fin aid comes to ruin my dream ? haha

By Brandywine (Brandywine) on Saturday, March 06, 2004 - 05:25 pm: Edit

hhaha. actually i heard their fin aid is really good... still.. *crosses fingers*

By Voigtrob (Voigtrob) on Saturday, March 06, 2004 - 06:00 pm: Edit

That's awesome! Could we hear some stats? I'd love to know if actual acceptances are slowly rolling out or if this is a special 'Early Write' sort of thing like Williams has, predominantly for Athletes/URMs/ridiculous stats people.

By Brandywine (Brandywine) on Saturday, March 06, 2004 - 06:35 pm: Edit

rob, this is an official acceptance letter mailed early... (similar to the williams early write thigns) not a likely letter.. i still think most acceptances will go out on the scheduled deadline.
hth

By Voigtrob (Voigtrob) on Saturday, March 06, 2004 - 07:03 pm: Edit

Could you post stats possibly? So we could see what to expect?

By Abracat (Abracat) on Saturday, March 06, 2004 - 07:03 pm: Edit

I got one, too! It's really exciting since this is not only a likely letter, but an actual acceptance letter a month early. Congrats to everyone else who got one!

By Chasgoose (Chasgoose) on Saturday, March 06, 2004 - 07:05 pm: Edit

Did you all get these on Friday?

By Congresssenator (Congresssenator) on Saturday, March 06, 2004 - 10:44 pm: Edit

Congrats all!

Chasgoose-- I received mine today.

Wooooo Congress, haha... your stats are vaguely similar to mine, I do believe... that is extremely encouraging... lol. ;P

Congrats to everybody who got one! :)

By Tomohawke (Tomohawke) on Sunday, March 07, 2004 - 12:41 am: Edit

I got one too. does this mean that we're special? or did Amherst send it off to everyone early?

By Runningwolf (Runningwolf) on Sunday, March 07, 2004 - 01:51 am: Edit

I received an acceptance letter today. It is the first college I am officially accepted to, and I am thrilled although it is not my number one choice right now. However it certainly feels great to know that I will be attending one of the finest schools in the world even if I don't get in my number one. Stats:
1550, 800 800 790 SAT IIs, 2/270 class rank, taken almost all available advanced/AP, state level athlete (recruited)

By Flashbackfl (Flashbackfl) on Sunday, March 07, 2004 - 10:45 am: Edit

Stats: 1570 SAT 35 ACT
Rank 2 IB Program
Not a URM,Legacy or Athelete
very active in community, school.
Coca-Cola Scholar, Presidential Scholar Candidate in my state, Emory Scholar Finalist.

By Banana1119 (Banana1119) on Sunday, March 07, 2004 - 03:06 pm: Edit

Yeah I've been accepted also and my stats are not as impressive as most of yours. I think that we've been duped and letters of acceptance have been mailed earlier than they said they would. That's just an opinion, don't want to burst anybody's bubble. Congrats on everybody's acceptance

By Voigtrob (Voigtrob) on Sunday, March 07, 2004 - 03:47 pm: Edit

You're from CA tho... geographic diversity may have played a role in an early write.

By Ambitiousyokel (Ambitiousyokel) on Sunday, March 07, 2004 - 07:46 pm: Edit

Got it. 1560, 800x3, 1/205.

By Chasgoose (Chasgoose) on Sunday, March 07, 2004 - 10:10 pm: Edit

Haven't recieved it. 1600, 780/780/770, top 10% out of 60, geographic diversity (I'm from AZ). Someone already has been admitted ED from my school as a recruited athlete.

By Welshie (Welshie) on Sunday, March 07, 2004 - 11:05 pm: Edit

I haven't received anything either but then again I don't have much hope. 1410, 800/740/620 top 4%, State champ in hockey, yadda yadda, from CA. Maybe I'll get a letter within the week.

-Jesse

By Voigtrob (Voigtrob) on Sunday, March 07, 2004 - 11:13 pm: Edit

Haha... I'm praying for the same... MAN what I wouldn't give for an acceptance to Amherst right now. ;P

By Runningwolf (Runningwolf) on Sunday, March 07, 2004 - 11:24 pm: Edit

I found out today that those of us who have gotten letters already are the minority. Most applicants, even accepted ones, have not had their letters mailed out yet, and will have them mailed out in a little while. So, a hearty congrats to everyone that's been accepted. I'm not sure yet where I'll end up, but maybe we'll be in school together! Is anyone sure he or she will be attending Amherst next year?

By Canadian_Idol (Canadian_Idol) on Monday, March 08, 2004 - 01:24 am: Edit

i wasnt at home on friday when UPS tried to deliver me something :(

it might be amherst...i'll find out tomorrow

By Daggerlee (Daggerlee) on Monday, March 08, 2004 - 05:54 pm: Edit

Person who attended SOCOH here, got my acceptance today. Congrats to everyone! My friend, FYI, was also accepted back in December ED, and he was also a SOCOH "alum" I guess you could say.

1600 800/790/760, 3/100. Chinese.

By Canadian_Idol (Canadian_Idol) on Monday, March 08, 2004 - 06:50 pm: Edit

woohoo accepted!

By Thedad (Thedad) on Monday, March 08, 2004 - 10:57 pm: Edit

S got one. Mailed priority mail. Happy household here.

By Tomohawke (Tomohawke) on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 - 08:39 pm: Edit

Runningwolf, what's your source on who's been admitted early? The question is: How much does Amherst want us?

By Banana1119 (Banana1119) on Tuesday, March 09, 2004 - 09:10 pm: Edit

Does anyone know when we get the financial aid package? Who's going to the open house on April? I'm just full of questions.

By Runningwolf (Runningwolf) on Thursday, March 11, 2004 - 07:05 pm: Edit

Tomohawke, the source is an Amherst coach. I'd rather not say which one because I don't see any reason to and I can think of a good many reasons not to. Supposedly only about 50 people received early letters! So great job to anyone who got one, and best of luck to everyone yet to hear anything.

only 50 people?? are you sure it wasn't 50 atheletes... That seems like a very small number! wow!

By Runningwolf (Runningwolf) on Thursday, March 11, 2004 - 11:59 pm: Edit

That's what he told me, I know it sounds like very few. No matter how many it really was, I am sure it was not many!

By Canadian_Idol (Canadian_Idol) on Saturday, March 13, 2004 - 09:20 pm: Edit

Amherst seems to know how to take care of its students. I received an email from them like they said they would in the acceptance package (though I think it said phone call - i'm in Canada so email was more convenient for them probably). They talked about my application in general and invited me to ask any questions regarding the school.

I'm really waiting to hear from their financial aid office...would suck to not to be able to go because of financial reasons.

By Alex614 (Alex614) on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 - 12:50 pm: Edit

I got my acceptance letter for Amherst, too. I got it about two weeks ago. Although, I do not plan to attend Amherst. I also got my acceptance letter from MIT, and reading these posts makes me feel like an idiot. I only got a 1420 on my SAT's, and then on my SAT II's I only got 740, 690, 690. But then again I am the captain of my track team, but I haven't won any honors or won any races for that fact.

By Welshie (Welshie) on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 - 08:23 pm: Edit

Congrats Alex and you give hope to peons like me me!:)

O.K. so I figure May 1 is just around the corner and the upcoming openhouse is greatly going to influence my decision on my college choice. Anybody elso going? How about financial aid, any happy campers?

By Congresssenator (Congresssenator) on Saturday, March 27, 2004 - 12:36 am: Edit

My financial aid blew.

By Btysfu (Btysfu) on Saturday, March 27, 2004 - 01:02 am: Edit

All of my minority friends found out early from Amherst. Then again, they all went on special "minority recruitment" events up at Amherst or were otherwise courted ahead of schedule. One got in without even writing the second essay!

By Flashbackfl (Flashbackfl) on Saturday, March 27, 2004 - 01:58 am: Edit

Great financial aid package, better than expected :)
