State residency probably doesn't play a factor as much as it doesn't count for Vandy. If the school brags about how many national merit finalists it has, that means the title helps. it just helps ensure that you're smart i can see why you're afraid of it not helping, but i don't think that happens. Your SAT score is below the median for WUSTL, I believe, so that's the only thing that will strongly hold you back besides not having any really special ECs (hm, I assume you got a high Writing score for the PSATs?). Dunno exactly what your chances are, but they're better than mine!
