how prominent is the greek scene at WashU. How often are dorm/floor parties?Does WashU have any academic frats?

i do not go to wash u yet so i'm definitely not an expert. from what i've heard and experienced visiting, greek life is a significant force, but does not take over social life. apparently, freshmen go every weekend to frat parties, but by sophomore yr., people are more interested in floor or other parties. i get the impression that people study pretty hard during the week and then there are a lot of parties on weekends. hope it helps!

When I visited Wash U this summer the tour guide said something that really surprised me. He said something to the effect of "alcohol is permitted inside dorm rooms but should not be taken elsewhere" (and that was a freshman dorm and he was addressing incoming freshmen). It surprised me that the university openly accepts/supports underage drinking.

yeah thats so true (i know from my sister who goes there)! it probably has something to do with budweiser providing like 1/2 of the endowment and also that they want to kids to be responsible. they know and acknowledge the fact that kids are going to drink so they want to limit the chance of someone driving or something and having an accident or something, atleast that's what my siuster said
