-Bridgeport City Wide Science Exposition (9) 2nd place in grade 9 division
-Connecticut State Science Fair (9) 3rd honors in the 9-12 physical sciences division. Presented with $150 check and $50 from school
-Poetry in Motion Contest (10) Won $100 for scrambling words into a poem
-Poetry.Com Poetry Contest (9) Won $200 and publication in anthology
-Academic Honor Roll (9,10,11) Maintained a 3.0 gpa or higher for three consecutive marking periods
-Breast Cancer Foundation (10,11) Received letter of thanks and certificate of merit from president for my contributions.
-CAPT Scholar (10) Passed all four sections of the test at least with a 3. I got a 5 on all four sections.
-NHS Merit Award (10) Attained second honors or higher for three consecutive marking periods

-Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (9,10,11) Raised a total of $230 for the organization
-St. Vincents Hospital Volunteer (10,11) Works in the E.R as assistant secretary and also the pediatric ward. Total of 520 hours (confirmed)
-Volunteer at Musical Arts Conference (9,10,11) Worked in the food concession for 13 hours in brutal subzero degree weather.
-Lyricist for Hand Over (10) Wrote the lyrics for the band until the breaking of the band due to personal problems

These stats may not be the greatest, but I have been known to have a way with words. My ap english teacher says I can write a "killer essay". Well...feedback please!

I think you have a good chance, fellow CTer :) Hmm, CAPT scholar...I must've gotten that, too. hm, I don't remember it at all tho.

I'd say you have a chance. What college are you applying to? "killer essays" are great but don't carry anywhere near as much weight as good grades and test scores. Whether that's a good thing or not, who knows but that's the way it is. Your e/c's are a little weak in the longterm view. Also your volunteer hospital hours seem a little high for a two year stint. Don't be exaggerating this kind of thing, it'll only hurt you. That works out to five hours every week of two years. Just not realistic. Only makes sense if you were doing it full-time during a summer or something, and I don't know anyone who volunteers full-time hours.
