don't think I can make it..plane fare from New Orleans (with that special discount code that UM gave on the brochure) is $270 rdtrip.

My son and I are going March 18th for the March 19th session. Airfare from New York is $130 per person on Northwest. Total including taxes is $327 for both of us. I thought that was a bargain.

Lemmego, we are not using Northwest. There are cheaper airlines. Look into it.

Jeans and good coat is all you need... maybe gloves and a beanie if you really want. Right now it's snowing there... Have fun.

Thanks Cruella! IT just seems so strange...since campus day is only for admitted students as said in the email...wonder if the letter got lost or they sent the email to the wrong person...gee..hoping for the former..

cfineman,
it's been really cold here lately. and it's pretty windy around the diag...they might have you stand outside for what may seem a long time in the cold while they ramble on about this building or that building.
jeans...long sleave shirt with maybe another layer over that...nice winter jacket with a collar that can come up. just in case, you might want to bring gloves and a hat that can cover your ears.
but then...maybe i'm a pansy. cuz i see this guy every friday on my way out of randall labs that walks around with short pants and short shirt!! no jacket or anything!!!! it's truly mind boggling...

i already went. they did an excellent job and were very organized. however, the dorm food at lunch was absolutly awful.

My daughter loved the school and Ann Arbor.
Sat in a calculus and philososhy class. Really liked the philosophy class. Thought everything was great except for the dorm food. Ate at Alice Lloyd. Laughed when she saw what was considered a hill at Michigan.

What did they actually do at Campus Day? I went in November for a Tour and i'm questioning whether i should go again or not. Can someone please run through their experience with Campus Day? Thanks!

i think you should go to campus day. first, you meet in a huge room at the union and there's a slideshow of what michigan's about. they talk about housing and a bunch of other stuff. next you split up into student and parent panels. you can ask the current students anything, and they don't sugar coat their answers, they're real straightforward. then, you get split into groups and you take a tour of the campus, with a student guide. the tour was really good. next, you go to lunch at a dorm with you group (the food is awful) and then you get to see a couple of rooms in that dorm. i was in ls&a, so then all the ls&a students go to this lecture hall and they talk and there's a slideshow. it wasn't bad. and then, b/c i'm interested in the business school, me and some other students went with a student guide over there and they did a presentation/tour of the b-school. again, that went very well. you have a ton of other options during that time of groups that you can be with. then, it's optional, but you can sit in on a class. i dind't go that. My day started at 8am and ended at 4pm and it dind't even drag on. i've vistied the campus b4 just for football games (i'm out of state) which is why i went to campus day but i would reccommend you go (if you're considering other universities), b/c it's pretty good and maybe this will show you that you really want to go here (or not). they were real organized and obviously put a lot of time into it.

i think i saw a few of your groups! friday, feb 20th...a saw a bunch of prospectives standing in the diag in front of the grad library...probably around 11:30-ish!
um...yeah...the dorm food is usually blah. not always...but usually. but if you decide to eat out, man o man...ann arbor got some GOOD food!!!!
