i got a lsa merit scholarship $60,000!!!! (out of state)sooo suprised and happy!!! i was actually deferred from my ED school- and now im glad that i was! I applied nov. 1st and found out that i was accepted Dec., but the money thing just came today.
I really wasnt expecting any scholarship money at all, my grades are not amazing..3.75 UW- i honestly dont even think i'm top 10% (we dont rank) SATs 1520, with SAT IIs of 780 760 and 760. I really think they must have liked my essay a lot. I dont why else i got this but i'm not complaining!

Mg2004, congratualtions. That is awesome. Did you apply for any scholarships, or did the scholarship come as a complete surprise?
| By Mg2004 (Mg2004) on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 - 07:13 pm: Edit |
I didnt apply for it- they evaluate all applicants for scholarships. I just noticed they dated it Dec. 12th though..weird.

MG2004: My S was offered that one, too. Ironically, he'd already turned down UMich cuz he got accepted by his ED school. I guess they didn't tell the scholarship committee. It's a little disconcerting; he's happy w/ his intended school, but Mich is a great place, and 60,000?!? Oh well. Congrats to you!!!

They only give that scholarship to the top 50 students in LSA. Congratulations.

mg2004: that's amazing money. Would you take admission anywhere over that?
| By Mg2004 (Mg2004) on Friday, February 13, 2004 - 06:13 pm: Edit |
i dont know if i could turn down that much money for any other school. my first choice was duke but i got deferred ED. if i get in come april i'll have a really hard decision to make. but most likely i'll be happily headed to umich. next year.
