Which Cal Poly are you talking about? There are two in California: Cal Poly Pomona and Cal Poly SLO
Oh by the way, they are both universities.

Cal Poly Pomona "UNIVERSITY"!

By Lakitalakota (Lakitalakota) on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 - 07:36 pm: Edit

Hi Eliel,
My older brother goes to Cal Poly Pomona. He is a Biology (premed) major with a minor in history. He really loves it there! While I was given the opportunity to go there too, I chose nearby ULV instead. He has many friends in different majors, so let me know if there is anything in particular you would want me to ask him.

How is the academic and social enviroment?
How are the dorms and cafeteria?
Would you recomend CalPoly over Biola and Pepperdine?
Honestly...Thanks

Ok, so here is the info relayed to me to pass to you about Cal Poly: Academically Cal Poly is great. Also the lectures are very good. You get a lot of attention from the professors since most class sizes are small. Socially, most people are commuters so most people don't really hang around campus. If you join clubs, then you can get involved.
Most people are nice on campus and they are willing to talk too.
The old dorms are small, but not sure about the new dorms.
The cafeteria food is also good.
As far as the other universities, can't say.Take a tour of Cal Poly if possible! Good Luck!

I'm going to Cal Poly next fall and I wanna know what it's like. It looks tight to me...but any current students have any feedback/recommendations of sorta what to do and what not to do? I'd appreciate any comments
Thanks

Take a tour of the school and talk to current students there. I'm sure you'll get more answers that way.

I visited the campus and it's really nice. It's a HUGE sprawling campus which I love and theres loads of trees, grass and rolling hills to look at it. While some of the buildings are old, they aren't an eye sore. The argriculture department keeps all sorts of farm animals around the outskirts of the campus with horses, pigs, cows etc.

I didn't look at the freshman dorms (saw the suites which were nice) but I hear they're small. You'd think they can spare some space in their 1500 acre campus but apparently not.
