Chinese guy that came to America at the age of 7, family poor and dont' speak english bla bla bla
9th grade 2.4 GPA no honors, 10th 3.8 no honors, 11th 4.0 GPA (UW) and 3 honors. 12th, will have 6 honors out of 8 classes that include gym.
As you can see the trend is great but my 9th is killin me.
SAT: math 750, verbal 750 (1500)
SAT 2: writing will be 700, history will be over 700 (let us assume this, i've been working hard)
Martial Art for 10 years, taught kids
Paintball team leader (5 men team)
Community Service Club president
history club president
chess club
school paper editor for senior year (let us assume this because i got his word on it)
Again, i'm poor so all my summers i have been working in a window factor helping my dad.
Since my bro left for Notre Dame i've been doing the tax return and all family affairs (appointment, insurence, anything with english so everything)
Sum it up: poor guy that slacked in 9th grade, began to work his butt off in 11th, what do you think?

I plan to apply to NYU, CAS myself. I'm no expert... but I would say you have a pretty good shot. I don't think the ninth grade GPA will hurt you. Your 10th, 11th, and 12th GPA is good and your SAT is awesome. Make sure you talk about how much you've done to help your family in your essay... just my advise
