I got my "Early Write" acceptance today!!!! I'm so happy, I never thought I would get in, let alone to be notified early. Any one else joining me up in Massachusettes???....my first choice was Yale, but i got deferred Early Action along with the rest of the world, and its very tough to say no to a school with a purple cow as its mascot.

I got in today. I'm very excited, but I don't know if I'll go. I also got in MIT today, and I've already been accepted to Amherst, so I already have a tough decision to make. However, I haven't visited and I think Williams has the power to "steal my heart" or what have you... I'm going next week to visit so we'll see, but it is certainly a GREAT school and I think I would love to go there! Congrats to everyone who was accepted.

My daughter just got her acceptance letter and they sent me one also letting me know she had been accepted. I too am so excited for her. She will definitely be at the open house. It is going to be a hard choice because she also just received a likely letter from Dartmouth on Saturday.

Congrats to everybody who got in! If you have any questions about Williams, please don't hesitate to ask me. I'm a current frosh at Williams and I went through the same decision process many of you are starting now. I'd strongly recommend doing overnights at all of the schools that you're seriously considering and have been accepted to...the accepted students weekends at schools tend to be fun.

Haon does Williams have any 5 yr prgorams with schools in terms of getting a BS in a science offered and a MS in an engineering field. I'am looking for the programs that suit me best out of the colleges I've been accepted. I love the idea of tutorials!!!

I got my early write today!!!
my stats, for those interested:
1540 SAT
800 Writing, 800 US History, 740 French
1st chair mallets, National HS Honors Orchestra
1st chair mallets, NJ All-State Band & Orchestra
I'm not sure if I'll be attending (I'll see if I get in anywhere else), but it's a HUGE relief to be in at such an excellent school. The next couple of weeks will now be bearable. Jcf, I was also deferred from Yale.
I visited the campus last April and met with some of the Williams music professors. The amount of attention they gave to someone who hadn't even applied yet was impressive.

I too got my early write yesterday. Williams is not my first choice, but it's close. I'll definitely visit and make my decision after April 1st, though it'd be difficult to get me to go should Yale (EA deferred) or Harvard accept me. In any case, I'm still very happy and I will CERTAINLY not be "settling" should I go to Williams.

I got in!!!!! Williams is definitely my first choice as Yale and Dartmouth will definitely reject me.
Say, I'm a little worried about financial aid.
Did any International student get his or her financial aid already? How was it?

Waitlisted....argh!
| By Sunshine916 (Sunshine916) on Saturday, April 03, 2004 - 11:59 am: Edit |
I was bored so i did the math. Williams accepted 1050 out of 5700+. 18% acceptance rate, 3% less than last year. wow!
| By Haon (Haon) on Saturday, April 03, 2004 - 11:31 pm: Edit |
Wow...that's impressive...last year was 3-4% less than the year before it.
Beachbum--I think Williams usually does take some people off the waitlist, so it's not hopeless for you. Since Williams tries to avoid over-enrolling they usually slightly underaccept and then make up the difference (it's usually a very slight amount of students) with the waitlist. Express interest in Williams. Make sure the college knows that they're your first choice. If you have any friends/relatives in any way affiliated with Williams, see if they'll write Williams recommending you. If there's anything you can do to make yourself stand apart from the other waitlisted applicants, do it. Other than that...I'm not really sure what to say. Don't get your hopes up too high--very few people get in off of the waitlist.
