bump please?

Edit: 400th post on WUSTL site...yay!

By Chen (Chen) on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 - 02:07 pm: Edit

It's hard to tell by just a list. Everything is subjective. I'm just posting because I know how reassuring it is for someone to post even if he or she doesn't know much about the admissions process. I have similar stats except a bit worse in terms of SAT IIs and GPA, but I was deferred ED II. I don't know how much of a help that is to you, but I think you still have a shot, but you're not an immediate acceptance. There has to be something special about you that makes you stand out, and right now, there isn't anything. Maybe if you plan to play baseball for them, or you made a good essay...... And WUSTL SAYS they don't factor geographic area into admissions.

By Mafmaf22 (Mafmaf22) on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 - 03:02 pm: Edit

if you can get your rank into the top 10%, you'll have a good chance of getting in probably. Also you should raise your SAT score. you Ecs seem a little weak-not much commitment shown except for baseball, and no leadership at all.

By Pistolpete (Pistolpete) on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 - 11:06 pm: Edit

Thanks to both of you. It IS really reassuring to hear positive feedback from others, and I basically wanted to know if I had any sort of shot and should bother hoping for good luck.

Chen: "And WUSTL SAYS they don't factor geographic area into admissions."

Does that mean you think they actually do?

Also, I'm taking the Jan. SAT. I know they say they don't take Jan. tests, but my rationale is that since other schools will have updated scores, they should at least have the option. Any idea if they might look at new scores, especially if they were 1500ish? Thnx

Well, I've read a few opinions here from other people that they accept more people from the Missouri area because they are more likely to attend. In one of the recent posts, a parent believed that his (or her) daughter was deferred ED II because a slightly weaker applicant from the same exact school was accepted ED I. I was just trying to say that Wash U has mentioned that they don't factor in location, but they just might! I do know that the Northeast IS well represented, so even if they did, I doubt it'd help any.

By Pistolpete (Pistolpete) on Monday, February 09, 2004 - 09:29 pm: Edit

Do you think this stigma against Northeasterners could be counterbalanced by the fact that I'll make the 1000-mile trip during Feb. vacation to visit campus? I'd think it would show actual interest. Also, as a clarification, though the NE is well represented, Vermont is particularly poorly represented (4 students). Might this make a difference?

Just an update: Jan. SAT scores: 800 V, 750 M

I know that officially they don't accept Jan. test scores, but they wouldn't just throw out new score reports, would they?

i meant about the scores

By Pistolpete (Pistolpete) on Monday, February 23, 2004 - 05:25 pm: Edit

ahh, a good idea. (*slaps himself*) Well, I'm visiting tomorrow, so maybe I should just ask the admissions rep. after the info. session?

By Pistolpete (Pistolpete) on Wednesday, February 25, 2004 - 07:47 pm: Edit

I had an on-campus interview today and they have my score and will use that when reviewing my application... or rather, they *did* use my new score when they *reviewed* it <<past tense, presumably...so yay!
