Looking for a fun dorm that doesn't reek of alcohol usage. What is the difference between the Hill and Central campus? Anybody know anything about Alice Lloyd Hall? Are there substance free rooms in all the dorms?

If you are considering Alice Lloyd Hall, you might want to consider participating in the Alice Lloyd Scholars Program...It's a really great program. They have outings, volunteer programs, tutoring, and they are right across from the writing help center...(great for when you have those long papers due!)...oh not mention that the most popular classes at UM have reserved seats for students in the Alice Lloyd Scholars Program...If I get in, I would most likely apply to it...I also hear that the rooms have a pretty good size, and that inside it is nice?..this of course I am not sure about, since I am not a student but that's the word around....If do not get in to the ALHSP, then I am debating between East Quad, West Quad, and South Quad...although I think South Quad has more of a party atmosphere...and I am really looking for a balanced, not to much party, nor to quiet type of dorm....

South Quad is the party dorm. It has the best cafeteria (which still isn't saying much) and supposedly the best rooms, but it's not very pretty from the outside--it's more "modern-looking." East Quad is really old, but has an appealing exterior. If you live in West Quad, you'll be spoiled. It's connected to the Michigan Union so you don't even have to go outside to get into the Union, which has fast-food restaurants, a bookstore, and several shops in the basement level, not to mention the myriad activities going on in the general Union above. It's also in a prime location directly across the street from many classes so one doesn't have to walk far.

i dont think its allowed, but i was at the dorm Markely a couple months ago and it was definitely there.

im convinced you'll be able to follow any path you choose at umich. regardless of the huge frat scene.

Dorm hall is keycard access and individual dorms require keycard and pin. Cafeteria on ground floor. Desk, TV, bed, and closet provided. Tile floors but you can buy carpet mats. Doubles have a average size window. Hallways were pretty small.

Above average overall in my campus crawl experience.

At U-Mich, there are always a myriad of parties to choose from on the weekends, if you're in to that, but if you're not, there are many other things to do. Ann Arbor is very cultural; it has comedy clubs, live rock band concerts, old-fashioned movie theaters, tons of ethnic restaurants, and lots more. No, you don't have to adhere to the party scene if you don't want to, and you won't be bored at all.
