hai i am phani
i want to know why people overrate an IIT.the so called IIT kanpur is rate 74 th in world vy UNESCO and the same has give 18 th rank to IISc.people who think abt indian institute should realize that there are still better institutes in india to IITs and people in india should try to understand the reality

though i am not either an IISc'an or IIT'an,I prefer to place IISc at a much better position to an IIT.IITs are basically undergrad schools and hardly any research is being done there.but IISc is and institute for research and heigher education and infact the leading institute in the country offers world class grad courses and research programs.if u compare and IIT with IISc u will find the difference immediately.basically i want to tell the people who are thinking that only IIT s are the best of india, that there are still better institutes in the country .
very few people know abt ISI kolkata.which is undoubtedly the best indian institute in it's area.but the media do have this biased nature to hide the facts

wow wow wow... phani, now i don't know if you're merely a reject of IIT kanpur or your friends/family are - but heres news to you. asia times ranked IIT as #2 - with a korean engineering university as #1... why not #1? one of the credentials that they were looking at were the internet access quality that students receive, and come on - Indian doesn't have cutting edge internet resources... maybe for the Ambanis, Tatas, and the elite. And yes, IIT may be an "undergrad school" as you call it, but IIT alumni generally tend to go to places listed on US top 10 for their masters...

And for the same reason of not having "cutting edge" resources, other Insititutes in India are ranked below IITs ..not for the lack of brains or quality of education.
