Is a legacy influential? (The bigger the legacy, the better?)
Do they round up GPA? (So if I had a 3.846 it would be 3.9?)
Can someone explain the points system and if it still exists?
I was looking at the file that had the points system, and can someone explain the quality of school thing (how do I know if my school is good) the achievement deal, and the curriculum difficulty thing. (How do I know what they'd give me?) Also, the geographic thing, what states are "underrepresented"?)
Oh and can I get in?
GPA: 3.84
Full IB diploma.
SAT: 1300 (650/650)
Legacy (Dad and about 10 relatives)
Out of state.
EC's: Normal. Varsity tennis, a shlew of clubs, model un and whatnot.
Thanks!

hey stressed
im wondering the same thing about the legacy status, my parents and grandparents went so if that doesnt count for anything im gonna be oh, ticked. haha.
from what ive read on this board they do round up ur GPA. but i think ur 3.8 is pretty good.
im 99% sure the point system does not exist any more, which works to the disadvantage of the both of us because evidently they used to give 20 pts to legacies.
but i think you have a real clear shot of getting accepted, especially if ur essays were killer.
anyways good luck and post when you find out!

I'm not sure about legacy, but I do know that they round your gpa up or down (3.84=3.8, 3.86=3.9, etc)
Also the point system doesnt exist anymore thanks to the us supreme court
I think you have a real good shot for enrollment

Ok cool, thanks. That system seemed cold and impersonal anyway. Still, seeing it did kinda worry me. Best of luck to all applicants!

I submitted my app early Jan...I was wondering if it would be possible for me to get a letter of deferral? I know I should not hear from them until somwhere in April...so will they still send out deferrals? or will they just tell you you are in or not?...considreing that you should reply by May....

Legacy is considered but it wasn't 20 points on their old admission point chart... it was 5, MAYBE 10.
By applying now, deferral is not an option.
For GPA, they recalculate your GPA, so your 3.8 is actually something else... lower or higher, i dunnoh, depends on the difficulty of your courses during 10th and 11th grade.
