keep in mind i'm at a prestigious public local HS that wash u has been VERY generous to in the past:
sat: 1440
gpa: 3.7/4
lots of extra curriculars with leadership positions, many surrounding music (lead trumpet in all the bands, etc), several surrounding journalism (newspaper editor, etc).
varsity CC for 2 years.

At this point (regular decision) it's hard to say. If you had applied ED I or ED II I would have said that your chances were extremely high.
In regular decision, however, you will be competing against student with 4.0's and 1600's who were rejected or deferred from the Ivy Leagues.
However, your stats are great. You never know! If you expressed a lot of interest in Wash U and had a great essay, I'd say you have a good chance.
College admissions are weird nowadays. You can never be sure.

and average EC. Are my chance any less in ED2?

Applying ED to Wash U can raise your chances even upto double. I would highly recommend that if it's your dream school.

Does Wash U reject anyone from its ED applicant pool, or do they defer all applicants who are not initially accepted?
