Anyone have opinions or experience with this school?

All I know is that they've had a lot of bad publicity the last couple of months.

Do you mean bad publicity due to the murder of one student by another? Obviously that's horrible, but something that really shouldn't have any bearing on a school's reputation. Have there been other negative things publicized that I'm unaware of?

Baylor is a great school. My family has a history there- both of my grandparents went there, and two of my cousins. One cousin just graduated pre-med, and is going to harvard med school next year. He took a few years between to do his residency.

I have applied and accepted. All that's keeping me from going is the money, so I need to start cracking on those scholarships.

Astro, the money was one factor that was keeping me from going too...until the scholarship stuff came in. Just keep at it, and Baylor's pretty willing to work with people on financial aid. Speaking of which, anyone heard anything about this school apart from the bad publicity (and I admit, I agree with Dolce in his opinion of Baylor's previous scandal.)?

Baylor is known throughout TX as having a kickass premed program. I don't know how it fares throughout the country though. Baylor is also Baptist, and I believe the dorms are not coed. Guys cannot be in a girl's time past a certain time and vice versa. Most of the school's population consists of Christians who want to continue focusing on their faith.. I heard this a two or three years ago... I'm pretty sure it's still the case. I can't remember if it is a dry campus or not, but if it was, I wouldn't be surprised.

Can anyone tell me, as factually and unbiased as possible, what's going on at Baylor that seems to have so many people upset with the current president and direction the school is going? I've been perusing a particular message board at which no one seems very happy with the current situation at Baylor. I don't have a Baylor ID#, so I can't post my questions there. My son is starting at Baylor this fall, and the people he had talked with love Baylor. So this whole "situation" (whatever exactly it is) has caught me by surprise.
