Is a cousin a legacy, what about a cousin that got really rich, is in contact with MIT and is donating a lot of money, should that be brought to the attention of the adcom, maybe in the form of a letter? Just curious as to what you people think.

I would suggest using application part I, number 10, item (l). Just write his name and class year, and put cousin in parentheses. Anything more would be indiscreet, IMHO. They'll figure out that he's a rich donor if it matters.

Write your essay about your rich cousin and how you aspire to become a millionaire and donate your savings to MIT.
