Age: 16
Race: White (though my mom's grandpa's dad was pure Hispanic [Mexican]).
SAT I: 730 Verbal, 680 Math (1410)
GPA: 3.83 (3.583, 3.5, 4.25 [on pace for a 4.8 senior year {AP Stats, AP Calculus, AP Government/AP Economics, AP English, and AP Physics (not Calculus based}].
Classes: All AP/HP classes possible (minus HP English Junior Year).
Rank: 32/655 (top 5%)
SAT IIs: Pending, I'm taking the Math IIC, Writing, and Literature.
Predictions:
800(or high 700s), high 700s, high 700s, respectively (I know I can score these scores, I simply did not study for the SAT Is because at that time I had no reason to but now with the potentiality of schools such as Notre Dame, I want to make one last, good, push).
ECs: Probably my weakness, played club hockey (outside of school since age 6 [Three separate State championship appearances, one State Championship, three Southern California Championships]). School swim team for 2 years, member of CSF for two years, CAML participant for all four years and am the currecnt CAML points leader of my school right now, Math Field Day participant, good amounts of community service through church (which I am active in), scouts and with my family. Two summers of full-time carpet laying in Provo, Utah. Had two pieces of art published in my high school's nationally acclaimed magazine "Ikon" and also some drawings published in the school's nationally acclaimed newspaper "The Blue & White." Also, another piece was chosen to be one of the two entries from my school in the National Duckstamp Competition.
Recommendations: I think this will be my strong point. One of my key strengths, I believe, would have to be my energy and determination- when I say I will get a necessary "A" on a test, I get the "A." In addition to that, I think my recommendations will have a good representation for my energy and personality that will hopefully compliment my essays well.
Essays: Pending but I am going to run over them with my English teacher to help reduce minor errors and to keep on a strong topic.
Thanks to any and all responses.

Just so you know, Notre Dame offers NO NO merit based scholarships.

A few extra add ons to ECs- I have three years of Scriptoral study before school (I'm Mormon so it is almost like an official zero period called Seminary). Have had other work experience as a peer tutor and as an assistant coach for the younger club hockey team.
About the lack of merit based scholarships, what might I ask do they award scholarships for? Thanks for the response.

They only give out athletic scholarships, and financial aid of course.

Thanks for the information Asknot. About why I'd want to go to Notre Dame- I think the campus is stunningly beautiful, great environment (lack of drugs, alcohol and smoking) and all the while a top notch education. BYU is a good school but I've been up in Provo the last three summers of my life and have gotten tired of it already. In addition, I have a good 100+ people in and around BYU that would jump at the chance to help me whenever I had the smallest struggle in school and in life which I don't want, I want to figure things out on my own and learn from my own mistakes. I mean honestly, who wouldn't want to sport the Irish colors?

Lack of alcohol?!? Whoaaa!!! Someone is confused. Notre Dame is a HUGE drinking school! I reiterate a HUGE HUGE drinking school. I have been to ND to visit friends many weekends, and all they do is drink, as do i. But on a positive note, drugs are virtually nonexistent at ND, and the school is wonderful. Hopefully I'll get in, good luck to you also!

I've heard that as far as the campus goes, there is lack of frat/sorority scene and not too much alcohol consumption. However, I have heard that there is certainly no lack of bars to be found in town. I don't know, maybe I heard way wrong.

I LOVE Notre Dame, but what AskNot said is totally true- there is an expansive alcohol scene at ND. I heard administration is working on new policy to help curb the problem, but sheer size and nature of it make it difficult. ND does not have frats/sororities, but I heard the residence houses sort of replace it. ND as a whole is like one big fraternity.

I second Girl's statement. Each house is like its own sorority/frat. Also, from my prespective, the drinking atmosphere at ND is a plus. Who wants to go to some uptight school where no one drinks....

There are LOTS of people at ND who drink but there are also lots who don't drink.

i know welshie will probably not read this, but i think it is great that she is considering an alternative sort of education. I myself, a Catholic, have applied to BYU and it is great and reassuring to find out that there are other people out there that don't look as religion as a limitation but rather an anchor as you explore. welshie, if by chance you get this message, please IM me, i would to get to know you better, my SN is antimatter04.
