How would a student at the University of Michigan rate how good-looking the girls overall on a scale of 1-10?

I know that many schools with strong engineering programs have less attractive girls (MIT, Cornell, Caltech), however, I'm not sure if that applies to Michigan.

In addition, how is the atmosphere there? Is it laid back like some of the west coast colleges, or is it extremely competitive like some of the east coast ones?

engineering girls are ugly just like anywhere else, but you can always surround yourself with LS&A students on central campus.

most of my friends would agree that white girls are pretty hot here. but oh man the asian girls are fugly as hell

Halls are divided among individual schools. Don't worry though, if you don't like hanging out at the dorms, the library is close and the bars are equally close. Dorms can be either uni-sex or coed.

party scene is great.

You're asking to rate a sample of 19,000 people on a human trait that you're calculating on a 10-point scale. 19,000 is a HUGE sample. I can tell you with almost 100% certainty that on a 10-point scale, the physical attractivenes of either gender at UM is between 4.9 - 5.1 compared to the population of the rest of the country. I can also tell you that the height, weight, and shoe sizes of these people rate between 4.9 - 5.1 compared to the population of the rest of the country.
