I know that University of Waterloo and University of Toronto are the best universities for enigineering in Canada. York University and McGill University are pretty good as well. I think the campus life at York and McGill are better than U of T's and Waterloo however.
I live in Boston, but have tons of family in Ottawa, and I have discovered throughout my years of research for Canadian colleges that Western, York and Queens are the best for business in Canada. Does that mean that it is comparable to the top U.S Biz schools such as UPenn's Wharton School, Harvard and the Stern school in NYU? They are all much cheaper than the ivy league's.

Oh I am sorry, York and McGill do not offer Co-op programs in Mechanical Engineering. I say go with U of T. It is a more college and fun environment plus there are 3 other universities in the city.
