Anybody have info on this school. Everything looked good, then I ordered a tape from a "walking tour", and the campus looked scary. Although the tour leader was very good, the campus looked cold, bare, and deserted.

Hi, I got an acceptance letter last month. I haven't heard from some other schools I applied to and I haven't yet decided where to go, but just let me know if there's anyone here who has also been accepted to Beloit :)

I would not go to Beloit if I were you. The town is really boring, and ugly. There is no nature anywhere, and yet it's not urban, or rural...its this worthless inbetween. Teachers are good overall, but the student body is apathetic and boring...everyone just drinks constantly on the dull campus and seems depressed. If you want to start hating humanity go...if you want to remain happy and inspired stay away from Beloit.

I go to Beloit and I really like it. The professors are very good and are always available. Also, I grew up in an all-white, small Midwestern town. So, the diversity on campus I find very invigorating, intellectually. I like being able to discuss with African students the issues of debt relief and economic development (my personal area of interest).

While it is true that the city has little to offer, personally when I need to escape I take cheap bus up to Madison (about an hour away). My friends and I also road-trip to Chicago about every other month – mostly to go to concerts. If you are into outdoor activities, the Outdoor Environmental Club runs camping trips periodically to various state parks.

I don’t want to sound like a shill, but thing about Beloit is that you will get out of it what you put into it. If you want to be disgruntled and hate humanity, nobody will stop you here. However, if you choose to be challenged academically, politically and socially engaged, and intellectually curious, then I believe you can’t make a better choice than Bel-Wah.
