shut the hell up...you're a shoe in. Help ME! I have a 1500, 750 average on II's and in an unranked high school (top 14%) exactly. Pretty good ec's, good volunteer/work stuff. Can people below 1530 get in?

chill man. the average sat is still in the 1400s for the top schools. mit i believe is like 1470. theres no magic number - and 750 ii avg is fantastic. they do prefer top 10percent though, but with good ecs u have a great shot.

thanks san, that was helpful...i guess i won't jump out of my window. I don't know any people that have gotten less than 1450 and been accepted into Ivy's or top schools like MIT. Is CMU or cornell engineering tough? Some advice would be greatly appreciated.

yes theyre both tough. cmu is more geared towards computer science, and cornell physics r tough in general. but that's just wat ive heard. cmu is easier to get in than cornell, but not by much.

Here are the SAT score statistics I got from MIT. There is no cutoff for SAT scores though, although the chances of admission do go down, the lower the scores.
SAT I Score Ranges of Students Admitted in 2002 (last year)
% of applicants in this score range who were admitted (VT=Verbal Total, MT = Math Total)
% of total admitted students (VA=Verbal Admitted, MA=Math Admitted)
SAT Score____VT____VA____MT____MA
750-800------31%---42%---25%---68%
650-749------19%---47%---15%---30%
550-649-------8%---10%----4%----2%
---<550--------2%----1%----0%----0%
